Dining out as a Celiac Vegan without ordering a salad



Italian Food


    • Macaroni Grill      
      • BYO gluten free bread for dipping in the olive oil and balsamic.  Order gluten free pasta (I like the penne), with garlic and olive oil sauce.  piled with all the grilled veggies roasted peppers, spinach, roasted tomatoes, roasted garlic, roasted mushrooms and seasonal veggies.
    • Bj's Brewhouse    
      • Plain baked potato with no sides.  Order large cup of roasted garlic, sauted mushrooms or steamed veggies with olive oil on the side.  
      • Gluten free pizza - with no cheese.
      • Gluten free pizza BBQ style- BBQ sauce, red onions, cilantro and pineapple.
      • 3 portabello burger with no cheese/sauce- no bun or BYO gluten free bun
    • Chili's
      • Chips and salsa
      • Fresh mex bowls, no cheese, no sauce and no meat.  add extra steamed veggies
      • Vegan style soft tacos, made with beans instead of meat and no cheese/dairy
      • Vegan style tostadas, with beans instead of meat and no cheese/dairy, add avocado.
    • PF Changs
      • Vegetarian Gluten free lettuce wraps
      • Gluten free Buddah Feast
      • Gluten free coconut curry vegetables
      • Gluten free spinach and garlic

      • Most Thai restaurants have a gluten free menu.  And most Thai food is naturally gluten free.  
      • Our favorite restaurant serves Mango Rice, we order it gluten free and vegan with no egg or soy added
      • Tom Khai soup, vegetarian with no fish sauce, no soy sauce
      • Cucumber salad
      • Pad Thai with no fish sauce, soy sauce, vegetarian style
      • Yellow curry, gluten free vegetarian with lots of veggies.
    When ordering out keep in mind the following:

  • Tell  your waiter/waitress you are celiac/highly allergic to gluten, soy and dairy.
  • Ask  Ask what vegetarian, gluten free options are available. Most restaurants have special menus
  • Order  if all else fails order a salad with no croutons, no cheese and no salad dressing.  Use olive oil and vinegar instead.  Also steamed veggies or baked potatoes are good options.
